home sweet home

we’ve been traipsing about bali and thailand for almost 6 weeks, having the most marvellous time with friends, old and new; and tigers; and food; and tuk tuks; and generally seeing and smelling new things everywhere we went.
however, i must say, that coming home is also an extraordinarily satisfying experience.
does anything else compare to your own bed….with your own pillows?
and your own cats curled up at your feet?
we have come home to cool damp weather…the tail end of a lashing cyclone season….and the garden is looking amazing.
this is partly due to the stellar efforts by our gorgeous house sitter, and partly due to the constant stormy rain and heat.
things have grown visibly….we actually gasped as we turned in our gate.
so, the temps are around 24 C to 28 C with rain and storms every day for the next week.
we closed the house up this evening and lit the woodstove….just to warm and dry books/pillows/clothing.
nothing is actually mouldy (which is unusual at this time of year) so we are trying to keep it that way.
i did very little personal shopping on this trip…apart from some clothing….but i did splurge on a whole lot of stainless steel pitchers in various sizes…..just the perfect thing for making soap!
i have seen nothing like them in australia and they seemed to be everywhere in thailand, once we started looking for them. (i googled them, they are a thai brand).
they will be here any day now and i cannot wait to get rid of all the plastic and pyrex and hang up my shiny new pitchers!

welcome home, Bandi.
You are right, there’s nothing like your own bed, pillows and comforter. And I bet the cats are happy to bits that you are back.

Welcome home…how are all those furkids? Are they giving you the cold shoulder? And did you sneak in the tiger fur?
