glorious grevillea blooms

Posted on | August 7, 2009 | No Comments

i had a little stroll around my garden today, in the late afternoon, in a very light misty drizzle.
it was quiet and cool and there were so many grevilleas in bloom that i decided to pick a bunch….there were plenty left for the birds.
these were all planted as seedlings in the last 18 months and are already full of their amazing blossoms.
we’ve been anxiously watching one that grew to ten feet tall quickly, but no flowers no flowers no flowers…..finally, last week it put out a few brilliant scarlet toothbrush grevilleas….small but dramatic.

i keep nagging elizabeth to plant me a “cutting garden”….where i can go and cut flowers for the house….but she says i don’t really need one.
i’m starting to think she is right, again!
