miss pettigrew lives for a day

this delightful novel arrived from the gorgeous persephone books yesterday.
i made it as far as my kitchen table, where i sat down with a cup of green tea and a bowl full of vanilla icecream with fresh passionfruit scooped over it and i proceeded to read.
and read.
and read.
what a wonderfully frothy fun confection of a book!
it’s an absolute classic cinderella story … dowdy, poor, broken, downtrodden, depressed, genteel, forty year old governess who goes for a job interview and whose life is transformed miraculously.
i am not going to discuss the book any more because i’ll give all the plot away!
i cannot wait to see the movie….the cast looks perfect.
now i have to hunt down more of winifrid watson’s novels.
in the meantime, i am consoling myself with plats du jour…..very interesting reading, but all the meaty dishes are feeling increasingly irrelevant.
