the perfect beverage

i am starting to think that i am addicted to lassi.
i recently read a friend’s blog post about smoothies (she was blending up spinach leaves with berries for a very nutritious hit) and it got me thinking about how i actually prefer the thinner texture and tarter flavour of a lassi.
i fancied a late-night drink this evening.
i’ve always got fresh home made yoghurt on hand; plain, unsweetened, very tart and super-thick; and some sort of fruit.
into a 4 cup jug, i sliced up a few strawberries and added 3 heaped dessertspoons of yoghurt.
i added a splash of maple syrup (i’ll be back to using local honey when my maple syrup finally runs out), a miniscule pinch of salt, 1/8 tsp cinnamon (it’s good for you), a few mint leaves, and about 3/4 cup water.
hit that with the immersion blender for a few seconds and pour over ice.
i can hardly wait to drink lassi in india, especially the saffron lassi of rajasthan.
