we watched this film tonight: water.
just wonderful!
firstly….it has a deeply poignant and tragic story line.
secondly….the music is INCREDIBLE and i need the soundtrack.

i won’t spoil it for anyone…but it is a story about a group of widows living in an ashram in india in 1938.
the scenery and settings are simply lush and beautiful and evocative and textured and gorgeous.
water is everywhere in the film: physically, spiritually, emotionally….rivers, rain, ritual ablutions, offerings of water.
it’s all quite layered and beautiful.
some of the dialogue was a little difficult to understand….i would have preferred for everyone to be speaking in hindi, with good subtitles.
i’m sure i missed some stuff….but will happily watch it again.
i was enchanted by this movie.

apparently this is part of a trilogy, with fire and earth being the other two in the series.
do yourself a favour and watch this one!
