bread salad

the other night, i toasted a couple of slices of THE BREAD and then made a simple but tasty mixture of tomatoes/basil/garlic/sea salt/black pepper/balsamico/olive oil/a pinch of sugar.
i piled the tomato mix up on the toasted bread and then went to carry it into the living room, where i was watching paul newman in the hustler (somewhat depressing movie btw).
after attempting the first bite, i saw that my bruschetta was simply NOT good finger food…it was collapsing and coming apart all over the place.
back to the kitchen.
i threw all the tomato mixture back into the bowl and added a little more vinegar and olive oil.
i tore up the toasted bread slices and mixed them all in.
i armed myself with a fork and there it was: perfect movie-viewing bowl food.
the bread soaks up the juices and becomes the most sensational texture you can imagine.
it’s our new favourite fast food.
with a can of tuna and some olives thrown in there, it’s dinner.
