i had a delivery today: 13 tonnes of rocks.

i have been long obsessed with having large well-placed rocks in my garden.
i think it adds texture and balance and a pleasing groundedness.
up until now, i’ve had NONE.
i always notice rocks in other people’s gardens….and when driving around the country up here, i am always on the prowl for HUGE BIG ROCKS.

a month ago, i spotted a huge pile that a cane farmer had cleared out of his field….so we drove in and very cheekily asked if we could take them away.
my gardener, the excellent elizabeth, organised a truck and a bobcat to scoop the rocks up and the whole lot arrived today.

it’s all in an untidy pile on one half of the circular driveway right now….and i think we’ll need a few more truckloads quite frankly.
i have BIG plans for rock mounds!
