henna-ed hand

i had this done in chicago, at the isocan soap conference.the henna artist just painted the henna on, free-hand, with great confidence and skill.it was just wonderful to watch her work.

i love jamu…traditional indonesian herbal medicine.this one is tasty and good for you. 3/4 tsp ground turmeric1 star anise1/4 tsp cinnamon or a broken cinnamon stick6 hawthorne berries6 clovesa small knob of sliced gingera squeeze of lime juicea tsp of honey or palm sugarpour over hot water and let it all infuse for ten minutes. 30g beeswax30g paraffin wax30g soap300g turps300g water shred soap and waxes, add to water and turps in double boiler.stir until it all melts. beat until creamy.add some orange and/or lavender EO.pour into glass bottles. it will wreck plastic. this needs a good shake every now and then. it is runny-ish and can separate if it [...]
