it’s like christmas

this afternoon a couple of boxes of loot arrived from the USA…..stuff we had posted home to ourselves.
along with 24 litres of maple syrup (a grade, dark amber), we unpacked a couple of microplane graters….a huge copper oval roasting dish…many small solid stainless steel whisks (for soapmaking!)…a load of magnetic spice tins from IKEA….some stainless steel butchers hooks (for hanging pots)…a jar of connie’s caramel apple butter…and every single gorgeous bar of soap i was given in the USA and canada by soapmaking friends.
my kitchen smells divine, with all the soap!
i’ve hung all the hooks and hung pots from them, and washed all the tins and stuck them to my fridge.
one of the maple syrup jugs has already been broached and sampled.
of course, the stuff is bloody delicious.
i see pancakes in the morning…..i like thin crepe-style pancakes….
and i’ve had some time to think about joy d’s furoshiki demonstration and consider applications for my own product.
i’ve got a lot to get working on…but these seem like just the ticket for special occasion wrapping.
i have several ideas for customising the fabric…it’s a matter of finding someone to make the things.
i know i don’t have time to fiddle about with textiles….there will be no end to it!
the only thing my kitchen now lacks is a proper pasta cooking pot, with a draining insert.
and of course, a decent kitchen to put it all into.
