eos for grief

aromatherapy is a large part of my life….i like to almost constantly surround myself with the beautiful energies of various plant oils.
sometimes i choose oils simply because they smell good to me on that particular day…and sometimes i am a bit more structured in my approach and select time-honoured blends for specific situations.
there is almost always a few drops of oil in the burner….or some natural incense smoking away on the wood stove….or a spray of water and eo across the bed linen or around the kitchen.
so, it is only natural that in our sad time lately, i have been investigating some eos and blends that will help soothe and settle our grief.
i started with bergamot and sweet orange.
they are uplifting and sunny and happy oils….wonderful for lifting a depressed mood and brightening gloomy spirits.
a drop of geranium for emotional balance….
i added some rose, to ease the heart and let all the love out to help the healing process….and some frankincense to ease the spirit.
camomile to soothe and calm…and cypress for strength.
cypress is great stuff for tearfulness, sorrow, loss.
i included a drop of marjoram….i find it mildly sedative and it’s herbal aroma is very comforting.
a drop of vetiver grounds the blend and holds it all together…and provides strength, grounding and growth to me.
i find the deliberate ritual of selecting and mixing the oils, and putting them into my oil burner, to be as important as the actual subtle inhalation of them.
