ongoing miss mousie saga

miss mousie came home to our rapturous reception the other night.
she stayed 36 hours.
and then she left again. 
i watched her leave….i even followed her around the side of the shed, as far as the water tanks….and then she just vanished…..
we truly think she is two-timing us.
she’s finally found some lovely man who sits her on his lap and pats her and feeds her fried scallops by hand and talks to her all night long.
and who doesn’t have any other cats or dogs or anything else to distract him from the beautiful mousie.
i am gutted.
but i am consoling myself with the knowledge that she isn’t a foolish cat….if things aren’t perfectly fabulous for her, then she’ll be back.
we’ve never lost a cat before and it’s a very peculiar feeling.
she gave the kittens a very, verrrrrrrrrrrrry hard time when they arrived.
now they are fully grown and we fear the mousie is reaping the whirlwind, somewhat.
they haven’t been putting up with her petulance of late.
i believe she came home to let us see that she was perfectly healthy and happy…and stayed a little while….and now she has gone.
i won’t put her bowl away just yet…but i am not holding my breath either.
i am very sad….but i’m also a realist.
and if she’s happier elsewhere…then i have to be happy for her.
even if i miss her all the time.
