shampoo balls

i made some solid shampoo over the course of this afternoon.
i’ve become very interested in these things lately…..they seem so economical and eco-friendly, with their minimalist packaging and their ability to just keep on going, shampoo after shampoo after shampoo.
i know many of my customers are quite happy to use my regular cold process soap on their hair, but that has never suited my own finicky scalp.
no matter how much i willed it to be so.
so i dug up a formula, sourced a raft of ingredients (with the kind help of a canadian friend who acted as a shipping agent for me, for one particular ingredient) and waited with ‘bated breath for the goodies to arrive.
my first batch, i simply followed the formula and the instructions.
i found the going a little difficult….the texture was all wrong for easy mixing.
so, i made a couple of adjustments and dived in again.
both batches are lusciously enriched with certified organic essential oil blends (rosemary/lavender & cypress/lemon/juniper/mandarin) and certified organic evening primrose and sesame oil.
plus silk!
and honey!
i left them naturally uncoloured, but i see some therapeutic clays in my immediate hair future….
i went to check on them a little while ago and they are smelling simply divine and hardening on schedule.
i’ve arranged the white balls on a platter, as proud as any mummy turtle with her eggs and i can barely wait for my shower in the morning!
and i think i have found the perfect use for these:
shampoo ball packaging.
