out with the old…

…and in with the new.
when i started making soap, i didn’t own a computer and i didn’t have any money for professional printing.
i needed little signs describing my soap. i needed them fast.
necessity is indeed the mother of invention, so i simply took pieces of card and handwrote my soap signs with my own peculiar brand of calligraphy.
over the next year, the signs became more sophisticated, with wonderful translucent paper and lamination.
the local printers helped me with scanning, so i could print out my handwritten stories, rather than re-write signs all day long.
i was very happy with them … they were quirky and original and nobody could quite figure out what the heck font that was.
however, the time has come, after 6 happy years, for a label look that is more cohesive with the rest of my brand.
i am an avid supporter of black and white.
i love arial font and use it everywhere (especially here).
it is so plain and functional and i am obsessed with it (sad, isn’t it).
i’ve never typed a capital letter in my life.
i think brevity is marvellous (everywhere except in my blog, naturellement).
so i have created 24 new signs that incorporate all that stuff and will give my retail soap displays a fresh, modern look.
same divine soap!
new fresh labels!
i’m very excited about it.
