something new

i put my name down for the LOTR swap MONTHS ago.
and promptly forgot all about it.
of course, the pressure has been ON since i remembered it…..i had to get it done and shipped out weeks before anyone else….because i am going away.
i racked my brains for hours.
i’d be driving along and i ‘d think….arwen’s soap? lavender? geranium? ylang? orange blossom?
elrond’s bar? some rosemary? vetiver? pine?
i like gandalf…..the balrog skeered me…..the hobbits bore me…..
then of course it hit me.
gollum.
he was always my very favourite, right from when i was a little girl.
my precioussssssss soap.
and so:
you are holding a bar of gollum’s own soap.it contains dead sea mud and seaweed for a swampy, moist, cold, fishy, dark, dank, damp, desolate atmosphere…..a place where gollum feels comfortable.
it also contains walnut shell powder, for a lightly exfoliating experience.….something to stimulate and polish the gollumskin to a healthier pinkish colour.
it has been scented with patchouli and black pepper and vetiver, for their dim, earthy, musty memories, and a splash of lime to remind gollum that there is sunshine and citrus somewhere in the world.
a thin gold line runs through the bar, bright and shiny and tantalizing……even as the constant thought of the One Ring runs through gollum’s mind (o my precioussssss, my preciousssssss).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~i read the hobbit when I was six years old and I can still remember how I felt when I read the following lines.
they mark bilbo’s moment of compassion for gollum, even as he had to escape from him….and gollum has been a favourite of mine ever since.“A sudden understanding, a pity mixed with horror … a glimpse of endless unmarked days without light or hope of betterment, hard stones, cold fish, sneaking and whispering.”
this soap will be available after february 28th, when i get back to work.
it is a very limited edition and it looks wild.

That’s truly brilliant, Patticoot. I’d love to see it.

Sounds devine. I’ve been a fan of your soaps since I first saw them at the Perfect Potion. I’m so glad I found your Etsy shop and can’t wait to see the new range.
