hei-tiki

some images showing the progression of my hei-tiki from greenstone slab to finished piece.
pretty amazing stuff!
please note the lovely soft polished finish on the tiki….not a high gloss machined finish.
this finish was created carefully by hand.
o yes, and i am especially fond of the paua eyes on one side and the cross little red wax concentric circle eyes on the other side.
a tiki for every mood…..
this beautiful tiki was carved by charlie wilson.
his iwi is ngati rangitihi tuhourangi.
i was especially thrilled to find it was a 2-sided tiki….what incredible skill to carve such a piece.

Oh that is gorgeous! What a wonderful carving. And you got to see it happen. How cool is that.

Wow, that’s really nice, and how nice to have the step-by-step pictures!
