soaping alone

maurice’s collarbone is improving rapidly, but he still isn’t up to lifting 20 kilo buckets of hot raw soap and pouring it, so yesterday’s soaping session was pretty much a solo effort.
well, he did line moulds for me and do lots of other things, but i was mixing and pouring and finishing on my lonesome.
it had a lot of potential for mayhem, but i kept it to a steady pace and everything turned out perfectly.
even the “divorce soap”, with many little layers, worked out beautifully!
i set up an extra table for all my tools and stuff and things went smoothly.
really, the hardest part was lifting the 20 kilo bucket out of the sink, walking 5 metres with it, then raising it to sit on the scales.
my biceps felt quite worked out after all that!
to treat ourselves, we took a couple of friends out for dinner.
my soap helper did all the soap cutting today, while i made bath salts and herbal tooth powder.
the curing room is absolutely full to bursting and tomorrow i have loads of orders to pack, so the room will start emptying out again.
o well, i can enjoy the delightful illusion of being ahead, just for one evening at least!
