i made headway with various insurance people yesterday….managed to track down the third party insurers and get a claim form rolling.
it looks like the labour i employ, to cover maurice’s absence from the soap barn, will be reimbursed….which is a very good thing.

mr maurice’s parents drove all the way up from town to visit us yesterday and see with their own worried eyes how he was doing.
we had a lovely time with cake and tea; and a tour of maurice’s wrecked gear and every scratch on the black motorcycle.
he was very happy to see them and had a new audience with whom to regale the gory details of the accident.

i hitched a ride back to town with them….because my NEW motorcycle had arrived from brisbane.
it was delivered to a big motorcycle dealer in town and i had about five admiring motorcycle salesmen and mechanics to see me off.
the bike i bought, sight unseen, off the internet, is an absolute BEAUTY!!
the seller had firstly looked after it obsessively for a year and ridden it very gently….then he detailed every inch of that bike and put her on the truck to me.
i’ve never seen such a beautifully-presented second-hand motorcycle in my life….i am talking immaculate.
i phoned the owner and thanked him for that this morning.

i will admit to having had some of the joy of motorcycling crushed out of me when maurice came home broken…..it was a little close, if you know what i mean…..but one second on that gleaming new machine with it’s responsive throttle and i was right back there having too much fun.

i thoroughly enjoyed my ride home and when i turned into our place, maurice was outside with the cats and his jaw dropped open.
i had timed my arrival nicely, with the setting sun just bouncing off the paintwork and chrome to best effect. yes, a total poser!
we both admired the bike for a while, then he insisted i ride over to my parent’s place because they were waiting to see the machine.
they were impressed too and oohed and aahed over it’s audacious beauty.

well, it will be a while before we go riding together, but i see no reason to waste this continuing glorious weather moping around the house as long as i have two working collarbones!

photos later.
