the singing oils

Posted on | June 17, 2007 | No Comments

i needed to make some stuff for myself and a few others and early this morning i had some time to play.

i’ve got a whole collection of certified organic fixed oils and essential oils and i just love being able to concoct serums and creams and other potions, using these vibrant, beautiful, pure substances.
you can just about hear the spirit of the plants singing when you use these oils.

the first thing i made was a dry skin serum.
i blended organic oils of jojoba, olive, borage, evening primrose, apricot kernel, macadamia and sesame with marula oil, pomegranate seed oil, boysenberry seed oil, watermelon seed oil and olive squalane….then added a few precious drops of my organic essential oil composition for dry skin: rose, jasmine, palmarosa, geranium, ylang ylang, camomile, mandarin and cedarwood.

a serum to balance oily skin was made the same way but with different ingredients:
hazelnut, jojoba, evening primrose and squalane, with juniper, lemon, lavender, patchouli, cypress.

i made a treatment oil for irritated flaky winter scalps : certified organic jojoba, virgin coconut oil & olive oil with a beautiful calming composition of organic essential camomile, orange, lavender, cypress and ylang ylang with a little sandalwood (which i cannot obtain certified organic as yet).

this works wonderfully well……i massage it gently but thoroughly into my scalp and hair, and leave overnight, then shampoo it out in the morning.
it usually works with a single treatment and leaves my hair very shiny and soft as a bonus.
i also find that i sleep very peacefully with sandalwood, camomile and lavender in my hair!
