no soap today

Posted on | May 30, 2007 | 3 Comments

i have cricked my neck horribly and it still hurts after 24 hours, despite massage and moxibustion.
i cannot look around enough to feel safe on a motorbike, so i guess i am not making soap OR motorcycling today.

i’ve been re-reading larry winget’s book : “it’s called WORK for a reason”.
i like his approach very much.
he doesn’t pussyfoot around.
however, i can’t just read all day……

i will spend the afternoon doing some very low-key cooking.
i think it’s time for a cauliflower and green pea curry.

300g cauliflower, florets, just cooked and drained.
1 tblsp ghee
1/2 brow onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cm fresh ginger, grated
35g hot curry paste
90 ml cream
1 large tomato, chopped
1/2 cup peas
1/2 cup yoghurt
fresh coriander
2 hardboiled eggs

fry onion, garlic and ginger in ghee.
add curry paste.
add cream, bring to boil, then reduce heat.
add cauli and tomato, simmer 5 mins, uncovered, stir now and then.
add peas and yoghurt, turn heat down, stir for 5 mins or until peas are just cooked.
serve curry with slices of egg and chopped coriander.

i am going to serve this with basmati rice and carrot raita and tomato kasaundi.

it’s all very vegetarian and simple and tasty, which is exactly what i am in the mood for.
we had minestrone last night with divine turkish bread (bazaar brand…it is awesome).
i’ve had better minestrone, but i’ve never had better bread!

Ow, you poor thing :( Hope it sorts itself out quickly.

That curry looks delish- Dave is such a ho for peas and I’m a ho for curry- this sounds perfect :) Any curry paste recommendations?

BB, the neck-cricking tale is just so stooooooopid.

    picture this:
i’m in the shower, first thing in the morning.
i’ve just used the neti pot and i’m feeling pretty good.
i’m stretching my neck all around in the nice warm water, hanging my head forwards, side to side and hanging it right back.
i hang it RIGHT back….i am practically looking up my own backside….and i suddenly hear an ominous click.
you know that sound…..it’s a baaaaaaaaaad sound.

things are definitely better today….i could take painkillers for it, but i’m going to tough it out.
i feel if it doesn’t hurt then i’ll flop it around too much.
at least the pain is giving me some boundaries to move within.

pea pods, tofu and peanuts sound good all on their own…….i’ve got a bit of tofu on hand, thanks for reminding me.

d0t, i really like MAE PLOY brand of curry pastes, if you guys like thai curries.
i’ve eaten a lot of curry in thailand and mae ploy tastes authentic to me.
and you cannot go wrong with sharwoods curry pastes if you want indian curry. they are taaaaasty.
cauli and peas SCREAMS indian hare krishna food to me, so i’m going with the sharwoods for tonight.
