exhilarated. exhausted.

yesterday we made 1100 bars of soap, with a 7am start.
then we cut it at 10.30pm that night.
all the soap was still warm and quite soft, apart from a batch we had made and forgotten about two days prior, separate to the day’s production. (it was a demo batch for some visitors and a trade commissioner from prague, of all places.
during the cutting, we broke a couple of wires on the log splitter (on the older batch of course) and there was a bit of time wasted replacing those.
we were both tired and not as fast as usual, so the cutting actually dragged on until after midnight.
i dragged myself back to the office and made up a stack of invoices for orders to be packed this morning, because i wasn’t going to be around.
i had a 1.30am finish and i had a 6am start.
where was i off to? you ask yourselves.
i was driving to cairns with my brother, to pick up his brand new shiny motorbike!
yes, the latest, fuel-injected honda shadow VT750.
i was given the awesome responsibility of driving the bike home, because i’ve got a license and it’s a really wild stretch of road.
his motorbike is terrific….it’s leaner and more pared down than my bike. bigger front wheel. different profile. slightly more raking, i think….i’ll have to get them both side by side for a good look.
and wow, zippy and responsive!
i THOROUGHLY enjoyed bringing it back up to the tablelands….it was a perfect day for a ride and in just two weeks, my confidence has quadrupled. i took the corners with gusto and leaned the bike over and really had a whale of a time.
today’s bike gear: pale lavender pants, teal and purple embroidered boots, white cotton voile shirt with hot pink embroidery all over, turquoise silk scarf, pale blue denim jacket. (i’ve realised i rarely leave the house without a scarf anymore….i’ve developed a real passion for them).
as soon as we got back here, we decided we had to go for a ride with both bikes, so we headed off to atherton for a coffee.
the weather was fine, until we were returning…..a little bit of very very light rain….really, my clothes were drying in the wind as fast as they got sprinkled.
all this excitement (and concentrating on the road)on top of almost no sleep, and a lot of visitors, has left me wrung out, but too buzzed to sleep.
well, i WAS too buzzed to sleep, but i think i am getting very sleepy right now.
i’ll grab a cat and go for a nap in a minute.
i love having a selection of cats to take a nap with.
they are master-nappers and can teach us a thing or two!
