i wanna motorbike

i have had motorbikes before.
a motorbike was my sole transportation for nine long years.
open licence: check!
attitude: check!
need for speed: check!

ok, not so much the need for speed.
i mean, i am forty now and i don’t need to be hunched over a fuel tank, looking like a madwoman.
i’ve always preferred cruisers.

my brother just bought himself an adorable BSA 1964 A65 rocket and while i do not envy him the maintenance and nursing along that these old bikes require, i certainly do envy the rides that are coming up.

he has been on the phone late at night, egging me on to look at bikes on auto-trader and i am beside myself.
i actually dreamed of a motorbike last night…..it’s been 11 years since i owned a bike and suddenly all that latent bike stuff has resurfaced. BIG time.

well, i think the bike i want is a honda VT750.
perfect size for me and i love the styling….loads of flashy chrome, must-have teardrop tank, and not too much raking on the forks and just not too wanky, you know what i mean?
i’ve spotted one for under $10K…..with only 400 km on the clock.
(first owner wanted a tourer, was talked into a cruiser, went back and promptly traded it in).
however, this will require a flight to brisvegas to check it out, then a long ride home, alone.
having once done an 11 day ride from cairns to adelaide, i must say i’m not to keen to repeat anything like that soon.
i was much younger then and it was hard work, all the same.
LOTS of fun, but hard.

i’m SALIVATING over this bike. i want it! i want it!
