today was a PERFECT market day!
absolutely gorgeous weather….after some heavy mist in the very early morning, the sky cleared to a cloudless sunny blue and the temperature was just right.

we moronically left our entire cash float at home and were so hemmed in by cars and tents that i had to wake up my parents and get my mother to collect my husband and go home and get the float.
i stayed at the market, cajoling correct change out of customers and having a general breakdown until husband arrived back with the money.

he told me we had also left our front door wide open and unlocked…..
i’m TOTALLY blaming the cats for that one.

well this is our little honda jazz stuffed full of market gear:

and this is us all set up and ready to start trading:

and this is a detail:

this is the deceptively simple and tasty pasta i made on friday night….cooking after big market days is NOT my forte.
you cook your pasta.
chop up parsley/basil/scallions/garlic/sundried tomatoes.
throw it all in a hot pan with a good slurp of olive oil.
add some of those baby spinach and rocket leaves.
salt it and pepper it.
add the juice and zest of a nice lisbon lemon.
reduce very slightly, just until the greens wilt, really, then toss the pasta in there briefly and turn it out to serve.
also lovely with strips of very hot salami and kalamata olves and lemon thyme.

WOW! Is that a commercial grill top you’re cooking on? I’m jealous

    no, it’s a scanpan wok….my favourite cooking pot/pan/thing.
it’s made from ceramic titanium, so it’s like really tough non-stick stuff.
nothing sticks to it and you can sue metal utensils in it…..what’s not to love?
