cranmere recently told us about this word : petrichor.
it is the scent of rain falling on dry ground.
i have long been obsessed with that scent and now i am obsessed with this word. and delighted to find that there is a word for the scent!
i’ve been playing with this idea for a week or so and yes, i’m going to do it.
i’m chopping down perihelion, before it even gets off the starting block!….and i’m doing a petrichor soap instead.
clay and rainwater for a start, naturellement.
i like that word, perihelion….but nothing was really gelling for me with the soap.
i was also jonesing to make an athol brose soap and went googling and found to my horror, that someone else has beaten me to it!
someone smarter, i guess.
athol brose is a scots mix of oatmeal brose, cream, honey and whisky.
perfect in soap!
drink the whisky and use the other 3 ingredients liberally!
i guess i’m back to my *cream of honey* idea.
i’m still on with the caraboo soap.
and the thalassa.
my husband said the word thalassa…thalassa…sounds like waves breaking on a moonlit beach.
he’s absolutely right!
