hmmmmm, the first day of a shiny brand new year.
no hangover…novel.
is this what turning forty does to one?
installs some sense?
we were very circumspect, modest and decorous, last night, with a single bottle of (indifferent) champagne between us.
new year’s resolution: say NO to crap champagne from now on.
either get the good stuff or forget about it.
life is just too damned short.
brother came over today for a late lunch.
chicken tikka masala and a truly amazing cucumber raita, with tomato kachumber salad, and perfectly steamed basmati rice.
we sat outside in the white tent, with brightly coloured tablecloths and white bowls and lots of red roses.
it was very pleasant.
now, i’m feeling faintly melancholic and wondering what the year will bring us.
i had big wild plans for export into china, three weeks ago, but that all seems to have vaporized and no fault of ours.
now i just feel a bit flat and grumpy.
serves me right for getting excited.
tomorrow:
walk around the lake
make soap
make pumpkin/potato/pea curry
think about crispy fried tofu with peanut sauce for lunch
i’m now tearing myself away from the computer and going to have a sauna and then a scrub with the last of that delicious choc chile sugar scrub from monica.
